I have a 2001 ranger that's broke down right now, my thought was instead of getting rid of it swapping the good 4.0 and transmission into my 84 bronco 2, and at the same time possibly swapping the rear axle at the same time, any thoughts on the axle swap and if it's a good idea what to put in the front to have the same footprint.

Most guys swap OHV 4.0s, which are pre '97 (don't quote me). I'd guess yours is a SOHC which would have more wiring to deal with and anti theft.

I think it would be a really cool swap, and definitely unique. I'd use the Rangers 8.8 rear, and swap a Dana 35 TTB in the front if you haven't already.
