My latch handle started spinning and now can be pushed in and out. Did I loose some kind of a retaining ring on the back side of the lock inside the rear hatch back? The nub isn't catching to unlock the rear hatch door. Many thanks.

My Bronco II is an '89. I have removed the black hatch handle. Is there a diagram of this latch that I can view parts?

I am unaware of one but I'm sure there must be. Probably a ford manual would have it. The manuals come in sets of 4 or 5 or 6 thick books. There should be one that covers body. They are expensive so test your google-fu.
You can try asking at The Ranger Station .com, they have a more active forum and a knowledgeable bunch of people.
